National Paella Day

Pierre and Marietta Bain announced today that they will be celebrating National Paella Day Thursday, March 27th with $2.00 off Paella at lunch and $5.00 off Paella at dinner. Paella Fandango Recipe


½ cup olive oil

1 large onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, chopped

2 large tomatoes, diced

2 bell peppers, 1 red, 1 yellow (you can substitute green for either), cut in strips

2 cups of white rice

8 cups of chicken broth

3 tablespoons of chopped parsley

2 large pinches of saffron threads

2 chicken breasts (*each cut in 4-5 pieces)

1 chorizo sausage (about 12 pound), cut in ½-inch slices

½ pound of scallops

½ pound of calamari

½ pound of shrimp, peeled, tails intact

8-10 little-neck clams

8-10 mussels

1 cup peas, fresh or frozen

Salt, pepper, cayenne

In a skillet heat olive oil and add onion, garlic, tomatoes, and bell pepper strips. Sauté until limp. Add white rice and chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add the chopped parsley and the saffron threads and cook for 20 minutes at a simmer. Add the reaming ingredients and cook till done, probably about 20 to 40 minutes. You’re the cook so you decide. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and cayenne and serve.
